LUG Meeting - Recovering a broken system

Hey LUG,

Thursday, Feb. 17th 7pm-8pm in Rekhi 101.

I saw a fun talk about how you can completely reinstall Linux with no user files on your system (i.e. you run rm -rf / --no-preserve-root) only using a shell and no physical access to the system. I think it'd be fun to do a demo on that. It shows some really cool tricks hidden inside your shell. It's not very practical, but there are some good tips you can get for it all. Maybe.

Also, I'll be doing a talk for RedTeam the hour before the LUG meeting on some basic set ups for initializing a web server, "properly" setting up tools such as: ufw, iptables, nginx, fail2ban, sshd. If I'm missing something else, I'll add to it, but that's all I use for my server (and what I use for the new LUG servers). I might also do this talk for LUG, but a lot more in depth, or maybe a two-parter or something along those lines.

See you on Thursday!
