The orinoco cards are pretty tight. I gave their Proxim b/g combo card a test run the first weekend I had my new laptop. The b/g cards may not work well in linux but the straight up b cards should. Also the card I used did have an external antenna jack that we hooked up an omni that attached to the roof of my car. Worked really well for wardriving in MSP. Check out:
