Hi all,

All of this will be brought up at the meeting, but I figured a bit of notice for people who will not be there would be good.

Anyway, today the raid array on astraeus finally failed. We're working on moving over to our new servers as I type this, but it's brought up a few interesting points. The most relevant of which is what to do with the shell server. Imhotep has been a long standing part of LUG, but as we're redoing almost everything we'd like to redo that as well.

There will still be a shell server, but we would like to put it on a different server.

This is needless to say problematic for people who have data on Imhotep.

We would like to to replace imhotep (we have the hardware) a week from now, next Friday afternoon, January 31st. This should provide ample time to back up what you need.

Accounts on the new shell server will work the same as they always have been: any current or former member of lug is allowed to have one, but please don't abuse them. However, we will not be migrating data or accounts over.

If you would like an account on the new shell server, please email me with your name and the username you want. When the migration happens I'll send out another email. Hopefully all account requests I get before that point will be handled.
