The script doing stats can be easily modified to ignore that file. Sometime tonight or tomorrow, I will edit it to do so, and update the github repo, at which point one of the admin team should pull the changes into the current location of the script.

Except as anyone who is forced to use centos knows, it runs a retarded
fastest mirror script anytime you run any yum command whatsoever. I'd be
curious how the numbers look with those hits purged from the access
logs.
 
Does that actually grab a dummy file from each mirror or does it just ping everyone?
 
Looks to me like about 75-85% of our centos mirror hits are for repomd.xml.  How nice of them.
