USB mounting

So  I have been having trouble mounting my ipod.  What originally happened
was the ipod was removed without being properly unmounted.  For some
reason the USB ports won't mount anything now; ipod, flash
drive...whatever.  This is what I get:

mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or /boot busy
mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is already mounted on /boot

Some help would be greatly appreciated guys.
