This is your chance to meet the official members of the Linux Users Group and other linux users here at Tech. Everyone is welcome, including students and staff from other universities in da UP. This event is for everyone remotely interesten in linux, whether your name is Linus Torvalds or you just learned that linux exists from reading one of the many posters that are in place to promote this event. There will be many experienced linux users attending who are willing to help you set up or get acquainted with linux, but you are encouraged to come even if you have no interest in installing linux and want to learn more about what it does. We are planning a series of informational lectures by some of our most distinguished members and alumni ranging from the basics of using a linux system to exquisite detail on correcting potential weaknesses in your system's security.

Please stop by at any time during the event and see what we're all aobut.

What do I need to bring?
For us to easily install Linux on your machine please bring:

• power cords (remember to take yours home with you when you're done)
• mouse
• keyboard
• ethernet cord
• computer: Pentium 3 and higher or equivalent is preferred for a quick and easy setup. There is no guarantee that we will have anyone who can help with uncommon architectures, but it's likely that someone will be willing to give it their best shot. Help for x86 and amd64-like architectures will be readily available, but a few of us also have some experience installing linux on sparc, powerpc and others.
• monitor (optional)

IMPORTANT: If we have to remove your current OS from your machine (might not be necessary) you will need to bring your own installation media and valid keys(if required). You will also need to bring any application media you want installed.

Make a backup of important data before the install-a-thon!!!!!
We will be providing limited space for backups to people who wish to go all the way and remove Windows entirely. But please, don't count on this and back up as much data as you can before coming. Don't depend on others to do the same, contact us if you absolutely need us to back it up.

If you would like Linux installed on your computer, please come before 4pm. It may take over an hour to install if we encounter issues!

Ubuntu will be the default distribution we install but others will be available on request!

You don't need to be a Linux user, nor have it installed to come and enjoy the presentations!
