you might want to consider just picking up a new ethernet card.  the 
nforce2 drivers in linux arent all that great from what i hear.  also 
i've seen a lot of cases where nforce2 ethernet drivers dont even work 
in windows (although i'm guessing this isnt the case for you).  just 
some food for thought.
