Graphical filesystem representations
Tonight at the meeting, we did a little bit of talking about how to tell
what is taking up room on your file system, and a couple of graphical
interfaces were brought up. I mentioned filelight, and you can find an
arstechnica article about it here:
http://arstechnica.com/columns/linux/linux-20041109.ars/2
Be forewarned though, it does require some KDE libraries, so be prepared
to get those if you need them.
Christian brought up an app called JDiskReport, whose website is here:
http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/jdiskreport/
From the few minutes I looked over the site, it appears that this
program makes a bit of information more accessible than filelight does,
such as largest files, last modified files and a few other things.
Also, as a bonus, it just uses java, so you don't have to mess around
with all of the KDE libs (saves a lot of hard drive space and
downloading time).
