I managed to break my wonderful linux install today. All because I tried
to update a kernel rpm.

I would like to take this time to blame Mr. 'Security Hole', as I was
upgrading the kernel to install a prereq for a prereq...(ad nausem)...to
see if I could get airpwn working on the City's wireless network that I
now do work for.
