Hello fans of linux!
As always, this is your friendly reminder that we will be meeting tomorrow, February 21st, at 5pm in Rekhi 101.
Also, I wanted to make a quick announcement about Winter Wonderhack coming up this weekend.
For those who aren't aware, Winter Wonderhack is a no-cost 36 hour hackathon-style event where sharp minds from around the Midwest will be competing for around $4000 in prizes. There will also be a variety of sponsors looking to hire at the event, free food, and fun activities like drone racing and a Super Smash tournament!
The main goal for Winter Wonderhack is to provide an environment where students can push themselves to learn something new or build something they've been thinking about for awhile. Hackathons are an excellent way to focus on an idea you want to work on or a new skill you want to learn. It is an event that promotes all fields of study to participate and work together to develop something new and exciting. It doesn't matter if your a first year mechanical engineering student or a fourth year computer science student or anything else in between, you can participate in the Winter Wonderhack.
Teams of up to 4 may compete for prizes, and are guaranteed to receive the same prize no matter the size of the team (in other words, it's in everyone's better interest to work in teams!). If you don't want to compete that's fine too! You'll at the very least leave with a free shirt and some swag.
Winter Wonderhack will take place at the Rosza this Friday the 24th, starting at 9pm. You can sign up at http://winterwonderhack.org/. Sign ups are welcome up until the event date, but they cannot guarantee a shirt to everyone who signs up later!
Thanks!
Adrian Felder
