[lug-l] Meeting Recap 3/16 - T-Shirts!, Nominations, Monitoring Checks, Websitev2

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the meeting yesterday! The T-Shirts came in and were passed out. If you were unable to get your shirt or didn’t attend last nights meeting and filled out the T-Shirt Size Form, you may also pick them up next week. I covered how monitoring is done with MTU LUG’s hardware and were we currently stand. Nominations are open for the next three weeks (I believe I said one at the meeting which is wrong). Finally, I want to do a MTU LUG Bookshelf that would contain O’Reilly books, and any other programming/sys admin/whatever books that would be related to LUG. If anyone has thoughts on how/where/with who I should do this please let me know. As always, the presentation slides are attached.

How to nominations work?
If you want to be elected to an eBoard position for ’15 - ’16 you must be nominated prior to election day (4/16/2015). To get nominated, you must email the lug-l list with your name and what position you are nominating yourself for. Likewise, you may nominate someone else for an eBoard position. Please note, that in order to assume an eBoard position you must be eligible by USG which I believe is a 2.0 cumulative GPA and according the the MTU LUG Constitution, " All officers must be currently enrolled MTU students."

So, you want to write a monitoring check:
Great! We need them! The check can be written in any language that we can run using the stable release of the interpreter on Debian 7 Wheezy. This means, python, ruby, bash, C,  etc. This page has more info on how the checks should work: http://sensuapp.org/docs/0.16/checks

Website v2:
Github: https://github.com/lug-mtu/Website
Feel free to fork it and then make pull requests back to the main repo. We really need the whole thing cleaned up and filled out. Pages that we specifically need: constitution.html (looks terrible), pages on how to use us as a mirror for each Distro we mirror (What files to change, etc), How to connect to IRC guide (one for Windows, OSX, Linux GUI, and Linux Command Line (irssi)), general styling (show off your CSS skills and make it not look like every default Foundation website), page with TShirt info and how to order from SunFrogShirts, and anything else you can think of.

But Jared, I didn’t fill out the T-Shirt Size Form and I REALLY want a shirt!!!
Good news! You can get your own, but you’ll need to pay for shipping. LUG has partnered with SunFrogShirts and you can get a our official T-Shirt (slight variation due to not being able to print on the back) or a black Hoodie!
