Re: computer troubleshooting help needed.

Erik-

I assumed the alarms worked independent of the speakers. Will the alarms work in those two seconds, and how would I interpret them?
The alarms are separate from the speakers. The alarms will work before
the motherboard shuts off power, if that's what is happening. The PC
speaker will beep out a combination of long/short beeps. You can look up
what the codes mean on the internet.
I went through the instructions several times. There is a separate power supply for the CPU fan, and one for the board. I connected both.
Did you connect the 4-pin power connector that plugs in near the CPU?
Looking at the manual online, it's labeled PWR2. #22 on the big diagram
on page 9.
Also, if you suspect something on the motherboard could be grounding out
against the tray it's mounted on, you can try running the motherboard
outside of the computer case. You can lay everything out on a
sufficiently large table, connect it all and try to power it up. This is
assuming your table is made of something that won't conduct electricity
:-) Be careful if you try this. Especially with PCI cards as they are
only being supported by the bus itself.
