A better solution than Wordpress maybe drupal [http://drupal.org]. I have
setup a few sites using it. It is way more community driven. To take of
the censorship issue you can have post enter a moderation queue until they
are approved by an admin. So if someone is flaming on MTU that post
doesn't ever have to be seen.  It also supports postgresql(-> Jon) and
mysql. It's PHP based. You can setup various 'roles' so there can be an
admin group and not just one person who approves content. It is by far one
of the most powerful open source CMS's out there.
