Filesystem Recovery

I was having problems finally seems to have given up on me. Currently I am
thinking that the problem is in my primary IDE controller as the secondary
one has no problems seeing the partitions however the filesystems on 4 of
them are corrupted. I think the one that I really would like back is an
ext3 although it       may be reiserfs, fixing my root ext3 partition
would allow me to find out. If anybody has any good experience or knows
anytools that may help me get my data back I would apreciate it.
