Michigan is formed by two peninsulas, the Upper and the Lower. The Lower Peninsula is more widely recognized as it is in the shape of a mitten. The two are connected together by the Mackinac Bridge. Those who live above the bridge are called Yoopers, and those who live below it are Trolls.
The Upper Peninsula is home to Michigan Technological University (in the Keweenaw Peninsula).
