Presentation on OpenStreetMap by Steven

OpenStreetMap started as a way to map private buses in the UK
Entirely open source
Community-built, anyone can edit
- Online web editor
- Java OpenStreetMap Editor (JOSM)
  - JOSM shows more advanced data, is more complex
  - Can automatically fetch data like addresses
Android Clients (all offline)
Various other ways to view the map
- OnTheGoMap
API is free
StreetComplete
- App that marks unfinished data as "quests"
- Meant to encourage completion of the maps
Michigan is the only state in the US that doesn't allow you to get addresses through JOSM
Google Maps can't be used to contribute due to licensing, try to get your data legally
LOTS of things to be added, and its very easy to do so
