Modding The Bible (on Steam)

What is the Bible?

• On Steam

• Developed by Bible Games

The Bible is coded in Ren’Py, and is very easily moddable.

How to Mod??

• Asset swapping
  • Insert your own files into the game and it will just load them
• Direct Injection
  • Modify the python scripts to run your own code

Demos

• Can swap out fonts
• Menu music swapped out for The Entire Bee Movie
• Bible translations are just Markdown files
  • Headers are Books
  • Header2s are Chapters
• Quizzes are ALSO just Markdown files
  • Start a line with + for a right answer, - for a wrong answer
• By modifying scripts you can make it access APIs and send data
• VM shenanigans:
  • Used Bible modding and a netcat process to steal SSH keys from the VM. EVIL!!
  • Running inside Proton, but can access any host file with Z: drive
  • Inserting a python file without putting code in functions will just run that code on startup
