Presentation on OpenStreetMap by Steven

• OpenStreetMap started as a way to map private buses in the UK
• Entirely open source
• Community-built, anyone can edit
  • Online web editor
  • Java OpenStreetMap Editor (JOSM)
    • JOSM shows more advanced data, is more complex
    • Can automatically fetch data like addresses
• Android Clients (all offline)
  • OsmAnd
  • CoMaps
  • Organic Maps
• Various other ways to view the map
  • OnTheGoMap
• API is free
• StreetComplete
  • App that marks unfinished data as "quests"
  • Meant to encourage completion of the maps
• Michigan is the only state in the US that doesn't allow you to get addresses through JOSM
• Google Maps can't be used to contribute due to licensing, try to get your data legally
• LOTS of things to be added, and its very easy to do so
