Re: [lug-l] Request help for install

This is going to sound silly, but... have you tried booting someone else's computer from this USB drive (preferably a computer someone else has booted from USB previously)?

I'm trying to install Linux Mint on my new Asus laptop with Windows 8.1, and the computer utterly refuses to boot off the flash drive I prepared.

I've tried the "through Windows" method detailed here: http://www.howtogeek.com/175641/how-to-boot-and-install-linux-on-a-uefi-pc-with-secure-boot/

And a friend has tried to do it through BIOS by changing the boot priorities. Both methods give me a "No Operating System" error message.

I'd really appreciate any help available.
