TL;DR - shell server downtime tomorrow night 3/4. IRC downtime tomorrow night 3/4. Also downtime after spring break at some point.
1 - The LUG shell server (imhotep/sekhmet) will be going offline tomorrow night, Tues 3/4, in order to complete the migration to a new shell server. Existing user accounts, passwords, and home directories will be migrated to the new server. It will also keep the same IP addresses so reconnecting should be easy. The downtime /should/ be minimal as I just need to copy the old MAC address and get networking onto the new server. You'll have to clear its entry out of your known_hosts file.
2 - The IRC server (osiris) will be going offline tomorrow night, Tues 3/4, in order to do a p2v (physical to virtual) migration of the system. This will allow us to shut down the physical hardware and protect it from further hardware failure. The amount of downtime will depend on how long it takes to convert the disks & get everything back online.
Also there will be some downtime of all of our services (mirrors, IRC, shell, etc) after spring break at some point as we reorganize the rack to pull out old hardware & redo cabling. Another email will go out beforehand.
