because you cover the mbr by reinstalling xp, so the mbr of xp ignore the linux part, so u can not find it.
If u r using double-OS, i suggest grub being installed in the mbr not in the partition. And u can edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst file to add the xp option.

The USB stick can't mount the partition with Windows and Ubuntu anymore either so I can't do anything to fix it.
I don't have my windows install disk with me so I can't use that to fix the issue.
Is there any fix?
